The year 2008 marks an historic occasion – the Bicentennial of Niagara County! Niagara has a rich and exciting history worthy of remembrance and celebration. From our modest beginnings as a fertile agricultural region to becoming one of the world’s most popular tourist destinations, Niagara’s development of electricity has created far more than a site of a great natural wonder. Ambitious new initiatives are reshaping both our appearance and our economy. Just as it was then, the people of Niagara County continue to be integral in the growth and development of this magnificent region.

banners The vision of the Niagara County Bicentennial Commission, “In the spirit of building community pride and unity, this steering committee is given the task to educate the citizens and visitors of Niagara County about our 200 year history, coordinate bicentennial celebrations, promote our community's growth and opportunity while attracting further tourism and business, and encourage community involvement among citizens, civic organizations, corporations and public agencies”, provides an opportunity for you to play a key role in this historic celebration.

Planning, promotion and coordination of such a momentous observance has never before been undertaken in Niagara County, and will require financial support from organizations like . As an important member of the Niagara County community, we wish to encourage you to participate in this unforgettable celebration.
